A cemetery listing is a census of a community that can no longer speak for itself. Rural burial grounds in these counties often sit at a field edge or behind a church. The transcriptions record what the stones still say, before weather finishes them off.

Entries usually give the full name, the dates cut into the stone, and the family groupings the layout implies. Some add directions or coordinates, because a number of these sites have no sign and no road frontage. Photographs appear where a volunteer took them. Where a listing has been revisited, the later reading is usually the more reliable one.
