The following information was Sue Hall, from information that she found at the Crockett Co. library. It was probably written by Martha Neal (Riddick) GilleySmith Cemetery
Samuel W. Smith 1815 – 1894 married Deborah Warren 1821 – 1882. They lived on a farm between Alamo and Maury City, TN, on what is now the old road. They set aside a portion of their land for a family cemetery and it remains in excellent condition at the present time.
Originally the plot had no grass and the families met twice every year to "clean off the graveyard.” The first Saturday in August was the time for “dinner on the ground” and as the women were noted for being good cooks, everyone looked forward to working and eating on that day.
Even though over a hundred years have passed, grass has been planted, and a caretaker hired, the Smith Family still meets every first Sunday in August for a reunion at the cemetery.
Sam and Deborah Smith had twelve children. They were Elizabeth, Jane, Nannie, Sallie, Randy, Tennessee, Ada, Lula, Laura, John, Robert and Sam. Our generation still remembers how people once talked about the beautiful Smith girls!
Many of Crockett County's outstanding citizens are descendants of this family.

Martha Neal (Riddick) Gilley is a descendant of this family. The Robertsons and the Austins are also.
