Major Taylor Cemetery - Bartlett

This abandoned cemetery is located off Stage Road
in Bartlett, turn onto Mercury Street and the intersection of Mercury St and Constance Ave, turn west and drive to end of this street, turn south on a private drive along the west side of which cemetery is located in a densely wooded area.

The Ben Miller Family deeded this cemetery to the First Baptist Church (Afro-American congregation) many years ago. It has been sadly vandalized. There are only unmarked graves, of there were several hundred, except two bases and a partial concrete-lined plot. This burial ground began as a slave graveyard on the farm of Major Benajah Taylor for the servants of the Ward and Taylor families.
