Simmons Cemetery Located near Bells

This cemetery is located in the field behind the house at 90 Bell Meade Rd. An inventory was done in March, 2001, by Mark and Natalie Huntley. At that time, there was only one tombstone intact, another was broken in half, one is missing everything but the base, and two others are broken in half, with only the bottom half remaining. In Oct. 2001, Martha Miller was kind enough to contribute a more complete inventory, which was compiled by Mrs. Annie Laurie James in 1971, and an additional list, which was compiled by Mrs. Russell Eason. There were some differences in the data compiled by Mrs. James & Mrs. Eason, which will be noted below.

According to Goodspeed's Hist of TN, Crockett Co, John Parker Simmons md.1) Martha E. Locke of Madison Co in Nov 1848. Their children were Elizabeth Tennessee Simmons (md. James A. Dixon), Robert William Simmons (md. Mary A. Horton in Crockett Co), Mary Ida Simmons (md. Charles William Anderson) and John D. Simmons. John Parker md.2) Mary I. Bevel in Jun 1886 in Crockett Co.
