Location: At Bradford, take Hwy.105 E. toward Trezevant. From the railroad tracks in Bradford, go 4.8 miles to Gann Road. Turn right. Go 2.4 miles to Belew's Chapel Rd. Turn left. Then, go .1 mile. Cemetery is on top of a high hill on the right.
This cemetery was originally under the care of Zion Church of Christ. When that church dissolved and Belew's Chapel General Baptist Church was formed, the cemetery was handed over to the new church and has been under its care since then. It is a scenic and beautiful cemetery, one of the most breathtaking in the state. It is on a hill and overlooks a large lake, woods, fields, and the church itself. There is an oak tree located in the center of the cemetery. All burials (except two) thus far have taken place in the old section of the cemetery; the left (north) side.
At the main gate of the cemetery, there is a stone set into the brick gatepost reading "In Memory of Billy Gene and Michael Dene McCartney." First, I would like to point out that Michael Dene should be Mikel Dean. These two boys were brothers. They were the children of Jim and Modene (Arnold) McCartney. Mike was killed in a cotton gin accident in October 1964. Shortly thereafter in January 1965, Billy was killed in a trucking accident. The boys were buried here and now their parents are buried here as well.

Information about death of Alma L. Lowery...There is no death inscribed on the
tombstone of Alma Lowery. Reason unknown. However, I did a search on a social
security site for a death certificate and there was an Alma Lowery who died born
same day, four years earlier and died in May 1973. I believe this to be Alma

There are several unmarked graves toward the back of Belew's Chapel Cemetery. Most have been marked with a brick recently. There is also a footmarker with no matching headstone. It has the initials "W.D.K." There are also graves marked only with blank metal funeral home markers.
