Newspaper transcriptions preserve the ordinary reporting that fills the space between official records. Marriage notices, visits, land sales and accidents all turn up. So does the local column that named everyone who traveled anywhere. Those columns are the closest thing these counties have to a weekly record of ordinary movement.

The titles here include nineteenth-century West Tennessee papers alongside later county weeklies. Dates and page references are kept wherever the transcriber recorded them. That lets an entry be checked against a microfilm copy in a library. Coverage is uneven, since it follows the issues a transcriber could reach.
