Friberg, Tex. July 9 - Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock Mr. Lee F. Cooper and Miss Zula Parker

were united in marriage by Rev. Edgar M. Wisdom at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and

Mrs. William Parker. The ceremony was pronounced in the presence of a few selected guests and

at 4:30 a nice dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper are among the first young people of the

community. Mr. Cooper is the secretary of the flourishing Sunday school and is a very

enterprising young farmer. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper will make their home in this community.

At the residence of Elder J.M. Morton yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock, Miss Hattie B. Crowell

became the wife of W.B. Hill of Holliday, Texas. Mr. Hill is a clerk in the store of Thomas and

Co. at that place and is popular. Miss Mattie is the daughter of R.A. Crowell and wife of south

of town, but has for several years spent much of her time in the city, during which time she

has made many friends and is deservedly popular. This young couple will have the best wishes of

all their many friends and relatives both in and out of the city. Rev. J.M. Morton was the

celebrant. They will be at home to their friends at Holliday, Texas.

Mr. Ira D. Dodge and bride, nee Miss Lillian Kukendall, arrived in this city Saturday night

from Fort Worth, at which place they were married Saturday afternoon. After spending a few days

in this city at the home of the grooms parents, the happy couple will leave for Galveston to

spend their honeymoon. Mr. Dodge holds a responsible position with the Denver road in its

general offices in Fort Worth and has many friends and acquaintances in this, his home town,

MRS. ADELINE RUCKS MARRIED TO NEPHEW

The clipping below, from Yesterday's Fort Worth Record, will be of interest to Wichita people,

among whom Mrs. Rucks is very well known. Mr. and Mrs. Ballinger are expected to arrive here

within the next day or two to make this city their home. The clipping follows:

Pittsfield, Mass. Aug. 31 - (Special) Mrs. Adeline Rucks of Wichita Falls, Texas, came to

Massachusetts to marry her nephew, Eli Ballinger. She is 50 years old, twice a widow, wealthy

and weighs 250 pounds, while he tips the scales at 118. Notwithstanding that it is against the

state law for such near kinsfolk as nephew and aunt to marry Mrs. Rucks and her nephew procured

a license. Then they sought out Rev. J.M. Hamilton, a Methodist minister, who performed the

ceremony. Happy as could be, they departed for Texas.

FOUR WEDDINGS IN THIS CITY ARE CELEBRATED

The popularity of Wichita Falls as a rendezvous for wedding couples was further attested

yesterday afternoon, when four weddings took place in this city, most of the contracting

parties being from other localities.

Rodman - Vaught - J.R. Rodman of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Miss Ethel Vaught of Ringgold, Texas

were united in marriage yesterday afternoon by Rev. W.T. Morrow. The groom is a business man of

Muskogee, where Mr. and Mrs. Rodman will make their future home.

McCord - Gillespie - Fred McCord of Madison, Mo., and Miss Pearl Gillespie of Monerly, Mo.,

were united in marriage last night at the close of the performance of McAdams' Company, in the

presence of the entire audience, Squire Brothers performing the ceremony. Both of the

contracting parties are members of the McAdams' Company and will continue their engagements

with it.

Swinborn - Sands - Rev. W.T. Morrow yesterday afternoon united in marriage O.A. Swinburne of

Vernon, and Mrs. Mabel Sands. Mr. and Mrs. Swinburne will make their future home in Vernon.

Miss Eva Stirman

Miss Eva Stirman, aged 14 years, died at 2:30 this afternoon, at her home following a weeks

illness with typhoid fever. She was a local operator for the Southwestern Telephone Company up

to the time of her illness. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from the

Christian Church conducted by Rev. R.R. Hamlin, interment being at Iowa Park at 1 o'clock. Miss

Stirman was born and raised in this county and was a popular young lady, admired and loved by

all her associates and her death is deeply deplored.

and enterprising young man. He is at present manager of the branch yard of the above firm at

Double Wedding

Two Popular Young Ladies Become Brides Today

At 1:00 o'clock today at the First Presbyterian church, two of Wichita's most popular young

ladies entered the ranks of matrons, a beautiful double ceremony being formed. William Carey

Lowry and Miss Maud Holley Skinner, and Lillard Abbott Wallace and Miss Vallie Skinner were the

contracting parties. The ceremony was performed by Rev. McKee. Miss Maud Skinner was attended

by her sister, Miss Bonnie Skinner, and Miss Vallie Skinner was attended by Miss Lena Matlock.

Lamar Fain attended Mr. Wallace as best man and Mr. Lowry was attended by R.T. Fowler of Fort

Worth. D.D. Darling of Fort Worth and Charlton Durland officiated as ushers. Just before the

entrance of the bridal parties, Mrs. Perry and J.R. Bradley sang a duet, "I Love You." The

wedding march was rendered by Prof. Katz and orchestra. The brides were attired in handsome

traveling suits and the church was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Following the

ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Lowry left for points north, but will return shortly to make this city

their future home. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace will also make Wichita Falls their residence.

charming person and manner and most excellent christian character. The groom is too well known

to need an introduction in this part of Texas.

Holland - Prothro

One of the prettiest home weddings of the season occurred Thursday afternoon, October 14th, at

the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Holland, when their daughter, Miss Ruby Mamie Holland, was given

in marriage to James Nelson Prothro. The bride was gowned in a gray traveling suit and carried

a bouquet of Mareschiel Neil roses. The ceremony was performed by Rev. S.M. Tenny of the

Presbyterian church, and a large number of friends and relatives of both parties were present.

There were many handsome and tasteful gifts. The bride was a general social favorite among the

circle in Big Sandy having lived here all her life, and will be greatly missed. The groom was

formerly a prominent young business man of this city, but has been located for the past year or

so at Wichita Falls. He was also born and raised in this vicinity, his parents having been

among the early settlers in this part of the state. He was very popular and well-liked and is a

young man of the highest character. Since leaving Big Sandy, he has been connected with the

W.B. McClurken Company at Wichita Falls, but more recently has been connected with the Wichita

State Bank at that place. Immediately after the ceremony the young couple left on the evening

train for Dallas. They were attended to the station by a large concourse of friends who bade

them good bye with the usual accompaniment of rice, old shoes and various decorations attached

to their trunks. They will spend a few days in Dallas visiting the state fair, and afterwards

go to Tuttle, Okla., for a short stay with the bride's sister, Mrs. H.E. Speer. They will be at

home in Wichita Falls after October 23rd. The Times extends congratulations and best wishes and

in accordance with its usual custom, will follow them to their new home with a years

Manus - Hammond

Mr. Roddy V. Manus and Miss Irma Hammond were married at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs.

S. Hammond, 1213 12th street at 7:30 yesterday evening, Rev. R.R. Hamlin, pastor of the

Christian church, officiating. The groom holds a position with the Wells-Fargo Express Company

in this city and today is busy receiving the congratulations of his friends. The newly married

couple will be at home on 8th street next door to the home of Mrs. R. Robertson.

Sheppard - Walker Nuptials Tonight

The wedding of W.B. Sheppard and Miss Dot Walker will take place tonight at 7:30 at the

residence of Wade H. Walker. Miss Inez Sheppard of Dallas, a sister of the groom, arrived today

and there are several other out of town guests. Following the ceremony the couple will leave on

their wedding trip, which will include a visit to various northern points.

A Double Wedding

At the residence of C.W. Rountree, 1314 Tenth street yesterday evening at 5:30 o'clock there

was a double wedding. Mr. Thomas W. Burnside and Miss Clara Weaver; Mr. J.N. Enloe and Evelyn

Wynn Rountree were married under one ceremony. Rev. J.M. Morton was the celebrant. The young

people were all from Henrietta where they are well known and very popular. All of their many

friends at home and elsewhere will wish for them a happy voyage through life. After spending

the night in this city, they left for Henrietta today, at which place they will be at home to

their friends.

Shreiber - Litteken

The marriage of Miss Mary Schrelber to Mr. Fred Litteken occurred Thursday morning Nov. 11, at

8:30 in the Catholic church of Windthorst; Rev. Father Frowin performing the ceremony. The

bride wore a very becoming gown of white swilss trimmed in val lace and a full length veil and

wreath. She was attended by her sister Miss Veronica Schreiber and the groom had for his best

man his brother, Mr. George Littekin. After the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's

home to relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Litteken left last Saturday for their new home in

Wichita Falls, on Third and Mississippi avenue. A GUEST.

A quiet home wedding was solemnized Wednesday evening, November 17, 1909 when Miss Lulu Odell

Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Brown of 304 Lee street, was married to Mr. John Scott of

this city, By the sweet strains of music which was rendered by Miss Imogene Brow, the groom and

best man, Mr. W Meredith entered, and then the bride, attended by her sister, Miss Hattie came

to the altar, and in a short and impressive ceremony, Rev. J.P. Boone pronounced them man and

wife. After congratulations from the friends and relatives present, dainty refreshments were

served. The bride was gowned in cream colored satin, trimmed in cream colored lace; the

bridesmaid in drab colored satin beautifully trimmed. Mr. and Mrs. Scott left on the 11:30 a.m.

train for Fort Worth and other points south, to return home in a few days, to make this city

their future home. The bride and groom received quite a number of beautiful presents as tokens

COMES FROM ENGLAND TO BE A TEXAS BRIDE

All the way from Bournemouth, England to this country to become a bride, is the romantic

experience of Miss Christina Sutherland, who will be wedded to Andrew McKenzie this afternoon.

Mr. McKenzie left England some time ago coming to Wichita Falls. In spite of the fact that some

thousand miles of land and salt water lay between them, the promises made by the couple before

McKenzie left England were kept, and several weeks ago Miss Sutherland left her home to become

a Texas bride. If nothing goes amiss, the romance will have its culmination this afternoon,

when the wedding is scheduled to take place.

Knight - Bateman

At the residence of the bride, corner 10th and Scott avenue, this afternoon at 1 o'clock, Mr.

C.C. Knight of Ennis, Texas and Mrs. Mattie Bateman were married. Rev. W.T. Morrow, pastor of

the First Methodist Episcopal Church South, officiating. Quite a few intimate friends witnessed

the ceremony. Mr. Knight is a prominent capitalist at Ennis, Texas, but has large property

interests in this city, and after a month's honeymoon, which will be spent in Ennis, Texas, the

newly married couple will make this city their home. Mr. and Mrs. Knight left this afternoon

for Ennis. The bride was raised in this count and was educated in the schools of Wichita Falls.

It is the wish of her many friends here that every happiness shall attend her in her wedded

estate.
