From Friday's Daily - Burch - Allen Mr. Samuel W. Burch and Miss Genevieve Allen were married

at the St. Charles Hotel on Tuesday evening Dec. 24th. Rev. Charles Eaton, rector of the

Episcopal Church, officiating. Mr. Burch is an engineer on the Fort Worth and Denver Railway,

while the bride is a sister of Mr. Walter Allen, proprietor of the St. Charles hotel and

restaurant, and was cashier of the restaurant. They will make this city their home.

A marriage license was issued yesterday to E.L. Boyd and Miss Celia Brown.

From Tuesdays Daily -After living together as man and wife for a number of years, L.E. Young

and Mrs. Mattie Jones were united in marriage by Judge Yeager at the courthouse yesterday. The

couple originally came from Kansas and were newcomers to Electra. The fact that they had never

taken the trouble to go through a marriage ceremony became known in the neighborhood and their

arrest followed. Before Judge Yeager both acknowledged their guilt and upon the advice of the

judge they took out a marriage license and were united in a good manner.

Felder - Hawkins

Houston Post Special Hempstead Texas - Dec. 28 - wedding chimes inevitably strike a responsive

chord in the human breast, be they synonymous of the happy union of whomsoever they may, but

when the peals? tell the beautiful story of two lives, possessive of all the charms of happy

buoyant youth then is the sympathetic interest kindled to the full exemplification of that all

the world loves a lover. And such was an instance Christmas night, when Miss Georgia Hawkins of

Hempstead and Mr. T. Felder, a prominent young business man of Wichita Falls plighted their

troth at the Presbyterian church, Rev. W.S. Red, officiating the ceremony. A decorative effect

of garlands was symbolistic of the doubly joyous time and through the editice loving hands had

left their impression in handsome and striking embellishments. Promptly at 9:30 o'clock the

impressive service was pronounced and after receiving the hardy congratulations of their

friends Mr. and Mrs. Felder departed on the north bound train for Wichita Falls, their place of

residence. For the ceremony, the bride was attired in a brown cloth suit, lace waist with ?

point trimmings, hat shoes and gloves to match. She was attended by Misses Mary Morrison and

Lillie Sterling of here as maids and little Janice Sanders, Marie Mills, Jack Atusler and

Theodore Ahrenbeck as flowers girls and boys. The groomsmen were Messrs. J.M. Hawkins of

Hempstead and Seth Mayfield of Fort Worth. The precession entered to the wedding march played

by Misses Vera and Hennie Hawkins and professor Klein of Chappell Hill and when the chancel

rail was reached "Love Me and the World is Mine" was rendered in the splendid voice of Mrs.

Sterling Smith of Chappell Hill. The church was filled to its utmost capacity, the local

attendance being considerably augmented by the presence of friends and relatives to the

contracting parties or out of town residence. Among the latter were Mr. and Mrs. R.K. Felder,

Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Felder, Misses Maggie and Helen Felder, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Smith, Mr. and

Mrs. M.J. Klein, Dr. and Mrs. Campbell, Miss Bertha Brandt, Chappell Hill, Dr. and Mrs.

Nicholson, Mr. and Mrs. Mix Buchanan, Mrs. Anna Felder, Brenham, Mr. Rufe Nicholson,

Sommerville, Mrs. Maggie Kenney, Miss Mary Kenney, Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barwise, Ft. Worth,

Mr. Weston Meek, Miss Hennie Meek, Houston, Mrs. George Hoenecke, Palestine. The bride is the

oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawkins of this city, the former a prominent traveling

salesman. She is an elocutionist of no small note and as a teacher of such as been connected

with the Public School of Beaumont, the Chappell Hill Female Seminary and other institutions.

Naturally her talent has been given a wide scope in this city and together with social

distinctions she has won popularity and esteem from all with whom she came in contact. Mr.

Felder is a young business man of sterling qualities and business capacities that have earned

him an enviable footing among the people of his home town.

Surprised Their Friends

Miss Meota Curry and James O. Smith Married This Afternoon

Miss Meota Curry and James O. Smith, two popular young people of this city, surprised their

many friends here by being quietly married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

N.M. Curry, at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The ceremony was pronounced by Rev. J.J. Dalton,

pastor of the Presbyterian church and was witnessed by only a few friends. Mr. Smith and his

bride left on the northbound train at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon for Roswell New Mexico, where

he will engage in the drug business. The congratulations and best wishes of many friends will

follow the couple to their new home.

Hooks - Ferguson

At the elegant country home of Mr. B.N. Ferguson, near Iowa Park, at 6 o'clock on Wednesday

evening, the marriage of his daughter Miss Lillian to D.E. Hooks was solemnized. The ceremony

was pronounced by Rev. J.A. Bush of this city and was witnessed by a large number of friends

and relatives. Following the ceremony, a splendid wedding supper was served. The couple

received many handsome and useful presents. Mr. and Mrs, Hooks will be at home to their many

Harding - Cobb Nuptials

Former Wichita Falls Girl Married to Amarillo Ranch Man

At high noon today in St. Andrews church Rev. E. McQueen Gray of Carlsbad N.M. officiated at

the wedding of Miss Virginia Leoma Cobb to Mr. Henry Clay Harding. For the wedding the

attractive interior of St. Andrew's Church had been touched with color, with sprays of Southern

smilax, which lined the arches in front of the church, twined about the organ, the desk, the

pulpit and the crucifixes. Smilax and ferns arranged over the rich cloth of the altar centered

and completed the quiet beauty of the whole. At 12 o'clock to accompaniment by the organist,

Miss Sadie Thompson, Mrs. Adrian Driggs sang, "All for You". Then to the measure of

Mendelssohn's wedding march ushered by Mrs. J.W. Hoover, and preceded by the matron of honor,

Mrs. Avery Turner, the bride on the arm of her father, Major Cobb, entered the door of the

church. At the altar where Rev. Gray awaited them, they were joined by the groom, ushered by

Mr. A.P. Mitchell. During the giving and the hearing of the solemn responses of the ceremony,

Miss Thompson played softly and after the invocation she played the march from Lobengrin as a

recessional and Mr. and Mrs. Harding, the matron of honor with Major Cobb, Mr. and Mrs.

Stinnett and the ushers left the church to take the cabs in waiting to carry them to the train.

Mrs. Harding is the daughter of Major Cobb of Wichita Falls, a distinguished Confederate

veteran who was commander of Cobb's battery during the Civil War. For over four years she made

her home in Amarillo with her sister, Mrs. A.S. Stinnett. Her charm and social graces have made

her a favorite with her friends and she is sped with best wishes on her wedding journey by a

host of friends who wait to welcome her back home. Henry C. Harding is one of the best and most

favorably known men in West Texas today. As a member of the LX ranch until its dissolution, he

showed the same ability to deal with the changing conditions in the business that has made him

successful in his own business and as a commission man. Besides owning extensive ranching

interests in Eastern New Mexico, Mr. Harding is a member of the recently organized Western Land

and Commission Company. Mr. and Mrs. Harding left on the 12:45 train this afternoon for El Paso

and points in old Mexico, where they will spend several weeks. After March 1st they will be at

home in their new residence at Sixteenth and Lincoln streets in this city.

Myles - Curry

At half past 5 o'clock this morning at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.M.

Curry, The marriage of Miss Tott Curry to Mr. A.E. Myles took place. Rev. J.A. Stafford, pastor

of the Tenth street Methodist church officiating. Mr. Myles and his bride left on the early

morning train for a bridal tip of about ten days, during which time they will visit Kansas City

and St. Louis. The couple will return to make this city their home and Mr. Myles will engage in

business here. The bride has been employed by the post office and is both popular and highly

esteemed. Mr. Myles is a native of Kentucky and until recently was secretary of the Wichita

Falls Chamber of Commerce. He is a man of pleasing personality and is possessed of splendid

business ability.

Wallace - Gwinn

Miss Bertha Gwinn and Mr. L.E. Wallace of Cleburne were married at Iowa Park this morning. Mr.

Wallace and his bride passed through Wichita Falls today on their way to their new home in

Goes After His Bride

Forest Dean left this afternoon for Vernon, where he is to be married tonight at 8 o'clock to

Miss Mabel Kester, one of the popular young ladies of that city. After the ceremony, Mr. Dean

and his bride will return here, and from here will go to the home of the groom's parents

thirteen miles northeast of this city, where they will make their home. Mr. Dean is the son of

Miss Mamie Stephens and W.P. Bledsoe Married at the Courthouse

Married at the courthouse at 11 o'clock this morning by Judge M.F. Yeager, Mr. W.P. Bledsoe and

Miss Mamie Stephens, both of Eschiti, Oklahoma. The bride and groom accompanied by their

friends, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Williams, arrived this morning on the Wichita Falls and Northwestern

and will return to that place by the same route this afternoon. The groom Mr. Bledsoe, was

formerly a resident of Wichita County and has many friends who will be glad to learn that he

has taken for himself one of Eschiti's fairest young ladies for his bride.

BROUGHT HOME A BRIDE

Billy Hansard, the postmaster at Thornberry, arrived this afternoon with his bride from

Arkansas, where the wedding took place a few days ago. Some of the Thornberry people who were

in town today say that they are preparing to give Mr. Hansard and his bride a rousing welcome

tonight and that all the ___ cows in the neighborhood will be relieved of their neck pieces in

order to furnish the most necessary instruments that cut such an important part of an

occasion of this nature.

Hund to Orten? David Green at Corpus Christie, Texas, Tuesday morning April 28th. The bride to

be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hund and lived near this city until a few months ago when

she moved with her parents to Corpus Christie. Mr. Green was formerly cashier at the M. K. & T.

office here but is now located at Pottsboro, Texas where he is agent for the same company. The

at home card announces that the couple will be home at Pottsboro after May 15.

Frank Jay Gould and his wife who was Helen Margaret Kelly have separated and it is said Mrs.

Gould has brought action looking for a legal separation. Jealously on the part of Mr. Gould,

due, it is said, to the homage paid Mrs. Gould, who is a beautiful woman, by other men. They

have been married six years and have two children.

Young Business Man of Houston Weds Wichita Falls Girl

Miss Charlotte Doran, daughter of Denver dispatcher W.F. Doran and wife, and James Robert

Thomson, Vice President of the American Securities Company of Houston were united in marriage

at the home of the bride's parents in Crescent Lake addition in this city at 10 o'clock this

morning the Rev. Father Dolje officiating. The marriage was in the nature of a surprise to the

bride's many friends here and the wedding was a very quiet affair, only a few intimate friends

and relatives being present. The groom is a son of Dr. and Mrs. R.W. Thomson of Bellville and

is one of Houston's most promising young businessmen. The couple left on the 11:40 train this

morning for the Gulf Coast, where they will spend a short honeymoon, after which they will be

at home in Houston.

SUES DAUGHTER OF GEN. DODGE

From the fact that the plaintiff was the original owner of the town site of Wichita Falls and

that the defendant is a daughter of Gen. G.M. Dodge, chairman of the board of directors of the

Colorado and Southern, the following from yesterday's Fort Worth telegram will be read with

interest here. The Telegram says: In the Sixty - seventh district court Tuesday, a petition was

filed by R.E. Montgomery, a well known resident of Fort Worth in which he seeks a divorce from

his wife, Mrs. Bettie D. Montgomery, a daughter of General Granville M. Dodge, chairman of the

board of directors of the Colorado and Southern lines, who with a party of friends, spent

Tuesday here in his private car. The attorneys for Mr. Montgomery believed that the defendant

was in the car of her father and a deputy sheriff was dispatched to the depot with service

papers, and although he spent several hours in an effort to find Mrs. Montgomery, his mission

proved futile and he was forced to return to the courthouse without serving the papers. Deputy

Sheriff Yancey to whom the papers were delivered, visited the private car of General Dodge and

while he was treated with courtesy, he was informed by General Dodge that Mrs. Montgomery was

not an occupant of the car and he knew nothing of the case. Mr. Yancey remained around the

depot until the departure of General Dodge and his party on the Rock Island train at 9 o'clock.

Married in 1873

Mr. Yancey was of the opinion that Mrs. Montgomery was present in Fort Worth but that she

avoided service by leaving the city on some train earlier in the day. The petition states that

the plaintiff and defendant were married in Iowa in November of 1873 and that they lived as

husband and wife until 1896 when the defendant abandoned the plaintiff and has since resided in

the states of Iowa and New York. It is further alleged that the plaintiff in 1897 provided a

home in at Clarendon in Donley County and went to New York in an effort to get his wife to

return and make her home with him. This he charged she refused to do.

Sends her $100 a Month

As to the support of his wife since their separation, the plaintiff recites that he sends her

$100 each month and at other times still larger amounts. Three children were born to the couple

all of whom have reached maturity. Mr. Montgomery makes his home at 104 West Second street, and

is well known in local business circles. He declined to discuss the case and when pressed for

an interview referred the matter to his attorneys who likewise declined to talk about the suit.

Dr. Walker to Wed

Invitations have been received by friends here to the wedding of Miss Esther Howard of Tulsa,

Oklahoma to Dr. Wade Hampton Walker. The wedding will take place at Tulsa at 6 o'clock on the

evening of Wednesday, May 27th and the couple will be at the home in Wichita Falls after their

bridal trip. The bride to be is the daughter of Mrs. John Howard and was formerly a resident of

this city where she is well known and highly esteemed.

Justice W.E. Brothers received a telegram from Milton Frieze at El Paso this morning announcing

the marriage of Mr. Brother's son, George L. Brothers to Miss Lula May at that place yesterday

afternoon. The telegram further stated that the couple had left on a honeymoon trip to Los

Angeles, California.

Hooks - Barwise

Married at the home of Lawrence Hooks brother of the groom, in this place on Tuesday evening,

May 29th at 8 o'clock, Frank Hooks and Josh ? Barwise, Rev. Lewis McV?? of the Methodist Church

South officiating. The ceremony was witnessed by a few of the relatives and immediate friends

of the contracting parties. The groom is a prosperous young farmer living two miles south of

Eschiti. The bride's home was at Electra, Texas where her parents reside. Mr. Hooks has many

Married at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Sherman, Monday evening June 1st, Miss Helen Louise

Howell of that place to Mr. W.S. Taylor of 1308 Burnett street, Wichita Falls. The ceremony was

pronounced by D.J.W. Miller. Mr. Taylor and his bride will make their home in this city, Mr.

Taylor having taken a position with the Wichita Mill and Elevator Company.

Dr. W.H. Walker and Bride Arrive in Wichita Falls

Dr. W.H. Walker and bride arrived in this city yesterday afternoon from Tulsa, Oklahoma where

they were married on the evening of June 3. On account of washouts they were compelled to come

to Wichita Falls via the Frisco and the Wichita Falls and Northwestern. The bridal party

comprised of the bride and groom, Miss Dot Walker and Harley Heath left Frederick at eight

o'clock yesterday morning but on account of a derailment of a coach on the train near Kell City

they were delayed and did not reach this city until late yesterday afternoon, and even then had

to make the last stage of their journey in a box car. On the same train were O. Terry of

Temple, Okla., and W.H. Hundley of Fort Worth who were on their way to waiting brides. But alls

well that ends well and the bride and groom are now happily located in their elegant new home

on Scott avenue where they are receiving the warm congratulations of many friends. The Tulsa

Morning World of June 4 gives the following account of their wedding. A wedding of wide social

interest was solemnized last evening when Miss Esther Howard, daughter of Mrs. John Howard, was

married to Dr. Wade Hampton Walker of Wichita Falls, Texas. Simple elegance marked the ceremony

which was at the home on Denver avenue and witnessed by a small company including besides the

relatives of the bride and groom the most intimate friends of the families in this city. In the

marriage room was an alter of palms and smilax studded thickly with pure white flowers and

suspended from the overhanging arch was a white flower wedding bell. The bridal party included

besides the bride and groom Miss Lottie Evans, cousin of the bride, Maid of Honor and Mr.

Harley Heath, Best Man. Miss Berry played Mendelssohn's Wedding March preceding the entrance of

the party and as they paused at the marriage altar Rev. Father Heiring read the simple and

beautiful ring ceremony. The bride wore a gown of messaline, made with a deep yoke of real lace

and finished with a satin girdle, pearl trimmings, pendant ornaments and narrow soutach braid.

Insets of lace finished the Japanese effect of the short sleeves, which were met at the elbows

with long gloves. The skirt ended with a train and was completed with bands and tucks. She wore

no ornaments save an aigrette in her coiffure and carried a shower of roses and valley lilies

caught with a tulle bow. Miss Evans wore a gown of white pompadour satin with lace trimmings

and carried a shower bunch of pink roses. Following the wedding, the Misses Berry gave a large

reception which was attended by about fifteen hundred friends. For this occasion the spacious

Berry home was transformed into a bower of roses and carnations. The Phi Alpha Club Girls, of

which the bride was one, assisted in the affair. The only out of town guest were Miss Sue

Walker, sister of the groom, from Wichita Falls, Texas and Mr. Harley Heath, the best man. Dr.

Walker and his bride left on the Frisco for Wichita Falls, where a lovely home has been fitted

up for their occupancy. She wore a blue voile traveling suit with hat and gloves en tone. The

bride of last evening has spent four years in this city, having come here from the city to

which she returns. The wedding was a culmination of a romance which has lasted between the two

almost since childhood. She has been a promising member of the literary and musical clubs of

the city and also of the young ladies card clubs. She is a gifted musician and possessed of

those sweet traits of character which made her the favorite she was and the most popular girl

in the city. She received beautiful and substantial evidences of the high regard in which she

is held by the many gifts sent by friends since her invitations for the wedding were issued.

The groom, who is a practicing physician and surgeon, is one of the leading figures in his

profession in North Texas and is assistant chief surgeon for the Wichita Valley and other

railroads. He belongs to a family prominent socially.

Double Wedding

A Double Wedding took place at the home of Mr. McDonald, about four miles south of town

yesterday afternoon, when Mr. E.C. McDonald and Miss Lizzie Ford, and Mr. Wallace Ford and Miss

Edna McDonald were united in marriage by Rev. W.F. Fry pastor of the First Baptist Church in

this city. A number of friends and relatives witnessed the ceremony and a wedding dinner was

served. The grooms of both instances were brothers of the brides in the other couple. The young

people are members of prominent families and are well known and popular. Their many friends

extend hearty congratulations.

Divorced Tuesday Remarried Saturday

Often in the dull pages of the court records are hidden stories of romance or tragedy which

rival those of fiction. Just what story is connected with the appearance of the names of J.E.

Wiley and M.A. Wiley on the district court docket and upon the marriage license record within

the same week the Times has been unable to learn, but the appearance on the record indicates a

good story. The district court record shows that upon Tuesday, June 9, 1908 an order for a

decree of divorce was granted to M.A. Wiley from J.E. Wiley and the records from the county

clerk's office show that upon Saturday, June 13, 1908, a marriage license was issued to J.E.

Wiley and M.A. Wiley. Further inquiry concerning the coincidence has developed the fact that

the couple divorced and those issued a marriage license are identical.

Arrives With Bride

Mr. James Stearns, a telegram operator of this city, was married last Wednesday to Miss Lee

Farley of Cleburne, Texas and after a short bridal trip to Dallas and other cities, the newly

married couple arrived here Saturday night, and will make this city their home, the groom

having accepted a position with the Western Union Telegraph Company. The announcement of the

wedding was quite a surprise to the friends of the groom in this city, and the Times joins with

them in extending its heartiest congratulations.

Ziegler - Vaughan

At the Presbyterian manse at about half past eight o'clock last night Mess Rena Vaughan and

Julius Zeigler were united in marriage. The young people had planned a surprise for their

friends but in some manner the news of the wedding leaked out and a number of friends were

present when the ceremony was performed by Dr. J.J. Dalton. The contracting parties were

popular young people of this city and will start housekeeping on Broad street near the high

school building.

Pretty Home Wedding

A pretty home wedding took place at the home of Rev. and Mrs. J.A. Stafford on Tenth street at

1 o'clock this afternoon, when their daughter, Jeanne, was united in marriage to Mr. Frank

Jackson Jr., a prominent young business man of this city. The ceremony was pronounced in the

presence of the immediate relatives of the contracting parties and a few friends. Rev. J.J.

Morgan of Terrell, president of the North Texas University at that place, and a boyhood friend

of the groom, solemnized the union. Preceding the ceremony, which took place in the front

parlor, Mrs. J.F. Schwab sang very sweetly to an accompaniment played by Mr. C.V. Durland, "Oh

Promise Me." The bride and groom were attended by Miss Lena Breeding of Mineral Wells and Mr.

Emmet Stafford, a brother of the bride, and Miss Willa Stafford, a sister to the bride, and Mr.

C.W. Hendricks. Following the ceremony, refreshments were served. The couple left on the

afternoon train on a bridal trip to Denver and other points. Those present from out of town

Mr. George E. Stearns and Mrs. Ames Martin were quietly married on Sunday evening, July 19th,

Stearns is a conductor on the Fort Worth and Denver City railway, and is an honest, honorable

gentleman, popular in railroad circles and with all who know him, and belonging to one of the

oldest families in the county, while his bride, who formerly lived at Jonesboro, Arkansas, is a

woman of culture and refinement and many charms of grace and manner. Their many friends wish

them a happy and prosperous married life and offer to them their sincere congratulations.

Brannan - Stone

At the M.E. south parsonage last night at about half past ten o'clock, Rev. J.A. Stafford spoke

the words which united Miss Dora E. Stone and A.L. Brannan in the bonds of matrimony. The

bride's home is at Henrietta and the groom is a prosperous farmer of the Riverland community in

Clay County. They came in last night on the train from Byers and were accompanied by Mr. and

Mrs. Bert Gould of Petrolia and the Misses Browning of that place. Mr. Brannan and his bride

left this afternoon for their home at Riverland, where they will start on life's journey

together with the best wishes of many friends.

Miss Pick Hyer and F.M. Kell both of Wichita Falls, Texas, were married this afternoon by Rev.

Brown, the Presbyterian minister, at the chapel on Beal Heights. The bride and groom and Mrs.

Fred Hyer, mother of the bride are visiting the family of C.C. Crites for a few days. - Lawton

Miss Ada Hargis and Henry Kimmons of Quannah were married at noon today by Rev. J.M. Morton at

Coats - Martin

At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Martin, at the corner of Eighth street

and Lamar avenue at half past ten o'clock this morning, the marriage of Miss Blanche Hazel

Martin to Edward Napoleon Coats, was solemnized. The ceremony was pronounced by Rev. R.E.

Farley, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church and there were no witnesses outside of the

immediate relatives of the contracting parties. Mr. Coats and his bride left today for a ten

days stay at Mineral Wells after which they will return to this city to make their home. Mr.

Coats is a retail salesman in the employ of P.H. Pennington Company and is a very popular young

man who is held in high esteem by his employers.

Byman - Johnston

The home of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Johnston, near Petrolia, was the scene of a pretty wedding

yesterday at high noon when their daughter, Gertrude, was united in marriage to Mr. Earnest

Byman. Preceding the ceremony, Robert Carey sang, "Oh Promise Me," and the wedding march was

played by Miss Estelle Carey. The ceremony was pronounced by Rev. Edgar M. Wisdom, pastor of

the Thornberry and Frieberg M.E. church. Following the wedding an elegant dinner was served to

the guests, who numbered over sixty relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The

couple were the recipients of many handsome presents in silver, china, cut glass, linen and

furniture. The groom is a son of August Byman and is a highly esteemed young farmer. Mr. and

Mrs. Byman will live on the groom's farm near Thornberry, where a host of friends wish them

happiness and prosperity.

the newly married couple boarded the train for Stamford, where the groom is the manager for a

laundry.

Mr. Clifford McSpadden and Miss Annie Hodges were married in this city on the evening of the

26th, Rev. R.W. Farley officiating. The groom is a prosperous young farmer residing a few miles

north of this city.
