JESSE GILES KEATHLEY

This is a picture of JESSE GILES KEATHLEY-our great grandfather. Born 1844 in Gibson County, Tenn - he died in 1920 in Lamar, Oklahoma.
His parents were: Archelaus Keathley (1821-1858) and Sarah Caraway Branch (1812-1852). She was 9 years older than Archelaus, with 3 children from her first marriage. (Sarah was the daughter of Bryant Caraway and Isabel Reeves, she first married Bryant M. Branch and when he died in 1839, leaving her with 2 children and one on the way, she then married our gg grandfather, Archelaus Keathley . His name was msispelled in the 1850 Census as -KEATHBY. Jesse was a man of many talents for fixing things and sailing things. It is undocumented so far, but family lore has it that Jesse rode mail into the Indian Territory later known as Oklahoma and also worked for a time as a Texas Ranger.
