J. A. Riddick

J. A. Riddick, retired farmer of Crockett County died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7 at St. Joseph Hospital, Memphis after an illness of two months. He was 71.

Born in Crockett County, Mr. Riddick lived most of his life in the Oldfield community. He moved to Memphis, when he retired a few years ago, where he made his home with his son, Wilson Riddick.

He was an active worker in the Methodist Church. Mr. Riddick sang in the choir in his youth and played the organ and piano at church functions.

He was a member of the Maccabee Lodge.

Mr. Riddick leaves two sons, Wilson and Ruben and one daughter, Miss Owana Riddick, one sister, Mrs. Vineyard Brasfield of Friendship. Services conducted by Rev. E. R. Roach were held Sunday at 2:30 at Floyd's Chapel. Interment was in the church cemetery. Ronk Funeral Home in charge.

[James Andrew Jackson Riddick was the son of James Knox Polk Riddick and Lydia Frances Stallings. He was the husband of Florence E. Nowell]
