OBITUARY OF SAMUEL BEVERLY WILLIAMSON

Herald-Democrat, Trenton, Tennessee, May 23, 1902

"Hon. S. B. Williamson died at the home of his brother-in-law, L. H. Tyree, this

city at 4:30 o'clock last Sunday morning after several months' illness of

Bright's Disease. Mr. Williamson and wife have been residing in Nashville for

the past 15 years and only returned here some weeks ago in hopes that the change

might improve his condition, but he has grown gradually weaker since. Samuel B.

Williamson was born in Milan in 1854. He was the son of Beverlay [sic]

Williamson and a brother of Judge Jno. L. Williamson. He entered the law office

of Sp'l Hill here when quite a young man and afterwards associated with that

gentleman in the practice of their profession. Deceased was married to Miss

Cattie Taylor, of this city, who survives him. He represented Gibson County in

the State Senate one term, and in 1887 moved to Nashville, where he resided

until a few weeks ago, when he returned here. Mr. Williamson enjoyed a lucrative

practice in Nashville, and during Gov. Taylor's last term as Governor he served

as coal oil inspector of that city, he and the Governor being on the most

intimate terms of friendship. He had extensive acquaintance over the entire

state and was very popular here and at Nashville, where he was known best."
