Jacob was the son of Jacob Holmes d. 1804 Union, Co./, S.C. and Mary (Polly) White of Craven Co., S.C.
Jacob and Mary Jackson had two children Gardner Jackson Holmes and Louisa Holmes b. 1825 wife of John A. Argo md. Dec. 31, 1847 Carroll Co.
Jacob also md. Mary Billingsley b. Dec. 1802 dau. of James Billingsley b. 1773 and Catherine Waldrun b. 1774.
They had Nancy b. c. 1830 md. James Alfred Kirby Jan. 30, 1848.
