To the Commissioners of Claims under the Act of Congress of March 3rd, 1871, Washington, D.C. :

THE PETITION OF Thurston Wilson Oliver a resident of Gibson County, Tennessee,

Whose Post Office address is Milan, Tennessee and a resident of Gibson County, Tennessee when this claim accrued.

Your petitioner would state that He was the original owner of this claim and He is now the owner of this claim,

andhiscame (sic) the owner by the property being taken from him.

Petitioner states that he is a citizen who remained a loyal adherent to the cause

and the Government of the United States during the war, and was as loyal before and

at the time of the taking or furnishing of the property for which this claim is made.

Petitioner avers of his own knowledge that on or about the fifth (5) day of Feb. 1863

at or near the town of Milan and State of Tennessee, the articles set forth in the

following account were taken from one T. W. Oliver.

By the following named persons, to wit:

Item 1. One bay horse six years old sixteen hands high and worth when taken two

hundred dollars ($200.) The horse was taken by Leut. Hamilton to mount infantry

soldiers on to make a raid after the Rebs.

Item 2. Three hundred pounds of bacon hams worth 20 cts a pound when taken.

Item 3. fourty lbs of lard worth twenty cts per lb.

Item 4. one new saddle worthe when taken fifteen dollars.

Was taken by the fourth Missouria Coln Warren Commandent. The second and third

items taken to feed the soldiers on. The saddle was used to mount a soldier on.

That no claim has been made heretofor for the articles in the above...[seal or stamp

and that a receipt or voucher was given for the above articles by Leut. Stage 126

Illinois Inftry then at Humboldt. said stores; that said stores were actually taken

by the person named above for the use of and used by the army of the United States.

That no payment has been made, or compensation received, in any way or from any

source whatever, for the whole or any part of said claim; and that the same has not

been transfered: and that the prices charged are reasonable and just, and do not

exceed the market price of the articles at the time and place stated; and I hereby

appoint ISAAC R. and S. W. HAWKINS, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, as my Attorneys---with

full power to make one or more Attorneys under them, and to revoke said attorneyships

at will--and to receive and receipt for the money or certificate issued in payment of

this claim..

Petitioner further states upon information and belief that said stores were taken to

mount the Maj. of the Regiment on and at that time Col. Richman was in commmand of

the Post of Humboldt. and said stores were taken to Humboldt and receipted for by N.

B. Stage 1st Leut 126 Illinois Infantry A.A.Q.M. The receipt is herewith filed as

per Exibit B. being duly sworn each for himself, deposes and says that he is one of

the petitioners, and who signed the same, and that the matters therein stated are

true of deponents own knowledge, except as to those matters which are stated on

information and belief, and as to those matters he believes them to be true; and

deponent further says, that he did not voluntarily serve in the Confederate army or

navy, either as on officer, soldier or sailor, or in any other capacity, at any time

during the late rebellion; that he never voluntarily furnished any store, supplies,

or other material aid to the Confederate army or navy, or to the

Confederate Government, or to any officer, department or adherent of the same in

support thereof, and that he never voluntarily accepted or exercised the function of

any office whatsoever under, or yielded voluntary support to the said Confederate

Government.
