BRADFORD (OLD BAKER) CEMETERY (OLD SECTION)

Located on West Main Street in Bradford, Tennessee. This is the largest cemetery within a few miles' radius of Bradford.

From City Hall, go west down Main Street. It will meet the old Hwy. 45. From there, turn right onto old Hwy. 45. Then turn left down West Main Street. The cemetery is down this road on the right. It is very visible from the road and has a large sign near the entrance.

This cemetery is divided into two sections by the road which goes through it. There is a new section and a much older section. The road goes straight into the cemetery and then splits in two. These two roads meet at the back to form a complete loop around the older section. The oldest section of the cemetery is on a hill.

GOODMAN CEMETERY

To reach the secluded Goodman Cemetery from Milan, head north on Hwy. 45 going toward Bradford. When you get to the Cades community, turn right onto the Cades-Atwood Road.
Travel down this road 1.7 miles and the cemetery is off to the right. It is NOT visible, so you will probably pass it the first time. There is a small gravel road leading up to the cemetery.
At present, there is a green, tractor mailbox for the house across the road which is beside the driveway to Goodman Cemetery.

*SOME HISTORY*

The Goodman Cemetery is a small, well-kept, no-longer-in-use burial ground. This cemetery has only one tombstone left in tact. Others have been stolen, buried, or just disposed of. When
approaching the cemetery, one would notice the row of white Military Markers placed near the front of the cemetery and a Confederate Battle Flag still flies there. currently
maintains the cemetery.

Below is a list of the 35 Military Memorial Markers at this cemetery. (These are just markers and are not marking graves. They were just placed here by Jere Cox and his son Brent to honor a few veterans of the Civil War.)

A monument was erected in 1998 in memory of Lucy BRYANT of the Cherokee tribe. Many of her descendants attended the dedication ceremony. One of her direct descendants has written a book on his search of this family line.

Many of the BRYANTs buried in this cemetery are linked to her family. A description of the monument follows:
