Smith-At residence, 502 N. Fifth Street-Sunday morning, Nov. 28, 1948 at 9:40 o'clock. Mrs. Bera Lois Smith, aged 60 years. Wife of J.W. Smith Sr. of this city. Mother of Sykes Smith of Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Willie Maye Collins of this city, Ira and J.W. Smith Jr., both of Beedeville ARK.; sister of Monroe Newman of Halls, TN. , Mrs. Evie Jerrell and Mrs. Mollie Lunsford, both of Ripley, TN.; grandmother of Larry Wayne Collins of this city. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. James P. Lilly will be held at the National Funeral Home, 1177 Union Avenue tomorrow ( Tuesday ) afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Friends are invited. Interment in Memphis Memorial Park.

Bera Lois Newman Smith
Service for Mrs. Bera Lois Smith, wife of J.W. Smith Sr. of Beedeville, ARK., will be held at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon at National Funeral Home. The Rev. James P. Lilly will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood. Mrs. Smith died at 9:40 yesterday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Willie Maye Collins of 502 North Fifth. She had gone to her daughter's home from Beedeville when she became ill last May. She was 60. She was born and reared in Lauderdale County, TN., and moved to Beedeville to make her home in 1938. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church at Ripley, TN. In addition to her husband and daughter, she leaves three stepsons, Sykes Smith of Detroit and Ira Smith and J.W. Smith Jr. of Beedeville; a brother, Monroe Newman of Halls, TN., and two sisters, Mrs. Evie Jerrell and Mrs. Mollie Lunsford of Ripley.
