Avris "Ed" Eugene Edmiston

AVRIS "Ed" EUGENE EDMISTON, 80, went to be with his Lord Jesus
Christ early Sunday morning, October 14, 2007 at Methodist North Hospital. He
went to be with his first love, Jesus and his second love of 37 years, Eilene
Kaylor Edmiston. He was born October 5, 1927 in Memphis. He was a man of very
strong conviction and morals. He loved and was very proud of his children and
grandchildren, and raised them in a strong Christian home, in the nurture and
admonition of the Lord. He loved God's word and knew it very well. He taught it
to his seven children from the day they were born. He taught it in the church as
often as he could. He loved learning and history. He loved nature and wildlife.
He was a proud veteran of the Army and the Marines. He attended Moody Bible
Institute for a short time, and later obtained a degree in education at Bryan
College in Dayton, TN. He taught school in East Tennessee, as well as many other
jobs to support his family. He retired from International Harvester in 1985. He
was a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church since 1977, and was currently a
member of Crosspoint Baptist Church in Millington, TN. He was preceded in death
by his wife of 37 years, Eilene; his son, Donald Joseph Edmiston, and his
granddaughter, Kallen Grace Roberts, and grandson, Morgan Gentry Edmiston. He
leaves his children, George Kaylor Edmiston, Philip Eugene Edmiston, Beth Ann
Roberts, Bryan David Edmiston, and Carolyn Joy Evans, all of the Memphis area,
and James Gordon Edmiston of Burke, VA. He also leaves 16 grand-children, and
eight great-grandchildren. He will be remembered and honored with visitation at
Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Hwy 51 in Millington on Wednesday, October
17, from 5-8 p.m., with the memorial service at Crosspoint Baptist Church on Hwy
51 in Millington on Thursday, October 18 at 10 a.m., with interment in
Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Crosspoint Baptist Church. Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home
