State of Tennessee, We John L. Davis Humphrey Donaldson
Isham F Davis of Gibson County.  Benjamin F Terrell H H Davis are held and
firmly bound unto (J. V. Brown?) Governor of the state aforesaid, for the
time being and his successors in office in the final sum of Sixteen
Thousand dollars, for which payment well and truly to be made, we bind
ourselves  our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally,
firmly by these payments,  bonded with our soul and dated this 7 day of
July 1846.
This rendition of the above obligation as such,  that if
the above bound John  L Davis, Administrator of all and singular  the good
and chattels, rights and credit of Isham F Davis deceased, do make, or now
to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular,  the goods
and chattels rights and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall
come to the hands or  possession or knowledge of him, the said John L Davis
or into the hand and possession of any other person or persons for him, and
the same so made,  do exhibit or cause to be ____ or cause to be _____ to
the next county court,  where orders for administration passeth,  and the
same goods and chattels and credits of the said deceased, at the time of
his death or which at any time after shall come to the hand,  or possession
of the said John L Davis or into the hands or possession of any other
person or persons for him do well and truly administer according to law;
and further do make or cause to be made a fine and just  account of his
said administration within two years after the date of these _____ , and
all the rest and the residue of said goods chattels and credits which shall
be found remaining upon the said administrators account the same being just
examined and allowed by the county court,  shall deliver  and pay into such
person or persons respectively as the same shall be due unto pursuant to
law,  and if it shall appear that any last will and testament was made by
the deceased,  and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the
same into court, making request to have it allowed and approved
accordingly, if the said John L Davis above bound being here into required,
do render and deliver the said letters of administration.   ________ of
such testament being first had and made,  do in the said court, then this
obligation to do void else to remain in full force and virtue.
Given under our hands and sealed this 7 day of July 1846.
