Can anyone tell me which clan of Raines this is on the 1850 Gibson Co. TN. census? All but David moved to Washington Co. TX. 1850. David sold land in Gibson Co. to James A. Cox, in Nov. 1851. Who is David's father?
The 1850 Gibson Co. census shows:
David Raines H/H 35
Elizabeth 55
Sarah 24
Huldah 23
Alfred J. 20
Elizabeth 18
John M. 4 (My G.G. Grandfather) m. Sarah Ellen Mitchell, dau. of James T. Mitchell, in Fayette Co. TX. 1869. John M. died somewhere in TX. around 1876 and his wife, Sarah gave all of their children to different families in different counties in TX. John Lewis Raines b. 1876 was my great grandfather. He was living in Falls Co. TX. 1880 census with Parham Keirsey, who was said to be an uncle. Parham Kersey had also been a Gibson Co. resident 1850-1860. I would like to know Elizabeth's husband and the father of her children. Was David a son? What was Elizabeth's maiden name?
Melinda Raines m. Joseph F. Hazelwood in Gibson Co. TN. 1849. She and her family moved to TX. with the rest of this family. Was she also a daughter?
The 1850 census of Gibson Co. TN. shows Jeremiah Raines, age 22 and B.F. Raines, age 10, living in the Hazelwood household. Were they Melinda's brothers? Jeremiah lived in Tx. with Melinda and I believe the Gibson Co. census was incorrect as to his age. I believe he was 12 yrs. old and not 22 in 1850. I will share any info. I have.

Seeking info on the GLASCOCK family in Gibson County. My gg-grandfather was Scarlett GLASCOCK, born abt 1808 in NC?. He married Jane TROSPER, Sep. 15, 1838 in Gibson Co. and (2) Nancy LONG, Mar. 7, 1842 in Gibson Co. An S.M. Glascock is listed in the 1840 Census for Gibson Co. The family is listed as "Free Persons of Color". I don't know if this is Scarlett's family or not. Scarlett is in the 1850 Gibson Co. Census listed as white. In 1860 the family is in Fulton Co. KY. Scarlett apparently died between 1860 and 1870 and I have been unable to locate the rest of the group in the 1870 Census. In 1880 Scarlett's son Jacob (J.W.) is listed as head of household in Gibson Co. and the family remained in Gibson until the early 1900's. There were a number of other Glascocks in Gibson Co. throughout this time but I have been unable to connect the families. Scarlett was also a common given name among Glascocks that were the descendents of Peter GLASCOCK and Elizabeth MADDEN ( Elizabeth's father was Scarlett MADDEN). But once again I can find a correlation. If anyone can connect the various Gibson Co. Glascocks and tell me who Scarlett Glascock's parents were, it would solve a great many mysteries for me. Thanks.

Can someone give me parents and grandparents of William Ferguson who was active in Trenton, Gibson Co., in the 1820-30s. He was appointed a Trenton academy trustee in 1829. I believe he is the one who presented a new Bible to the Temperance League in later years. I do not think this is my direct line, but it might help me to tie in with other information I do have. Thanks very much.

PINION, HAMBLIN (HAMBLEN) Looking for information on Fred PINION b. 7 Mar 1874 Gibson Co. m. 25 Dec 1900 to Ida Jane HAMBLIN Am having a hard time finding Fred in Census with mother Tempi and brother Sid Pinion. Sid married Mary LOWRANCE. Tempie their mother married Louis Pinion. It is family legend that Tempi left Fred on side of road when he was a small child and either TULL'S or VAUGHT'S picked him up and took care of him till age 12-13, When Tempi left she left Sid, Mary, and 2 or 3 boys with their Father Louis. I have 2 possible maiden names for Tempi of Overall or Vaught Gibson Co marriage records has her as Overall, her grandchildren that are still living say Vaught. So somewhere along the line she was either a Vaught or married one. Fred met and married Ida in Obion Co. where she was born and raised by Elika HAMBLIN and Elizabeth P. ( ?) 2nd marriage for him I believe. Their children: William W., James Radd, Ida Jane, Vassa L, Walter B., Haster, Benjamin C. Does anyone have any information on any of these families.
