Located
on the Shoaf farm just north of Milan’s city limits, the Wheeler plot used to
have estimated 10 to 15 tombstones, however, cultivation in the adjacent field
is though to have destroyed or buried almost all of the stones.
Today, only two stones remain in the extremely overgrown plot of land.
O. H. (Buck) Ford took me to the remains of the cemetery, which is just
behind his home and land. (Information
provided by O. H. “Buck” Ford.)
Directions: From Milan Elementary School: Travel east on Middle Road. Go straight through the intersection with Gann Road/Wahl Street. Turn left after Milan Middle School on Salem Road. Travel a little less than a mile. The cemetery is about a quarter to half mile off the road on the left, in a field.
The
transcription of the remaining two stones is as follows:

(Note:

They were spelled differently on the two rocks.)
