There
are two graves located on the farm owned by Kenneth Ramsey in the Gann/Whiteway
community.
From
Milan, travel north on Gann Road.
After passing Whiteway’s four-way-stop, travel a little over a mile.
Turn right at Claude E. Jones Road, which cuts right into the woods.
There is a stop sign, but no road sign.
This is a dead end road.
Once you get to the end, the cemetery is located on private property
(owned by Ramsey).
Kenneth
said that the Stone family members buried here were the sons of Rev. William E.
Stone and his wife, who are buried at Walnut Grove UMC Cemetery in Cades.
He believes that their family lived on this old farm and that the boys
were buried in the back yard.
There are two tombstones here, which are very legible, and a large,
old-growth cedar tree in the plot.
The stones read:
James
S. Stone
Born
Nov. 26, 1826
Died
Aug. 17, 1846
Joseph
I. Stone
Born
Dec. 1, 1836
Died
May 20, 1846
Each
stone also is inscribed with an epitaph.
