The Flag of the 20th TENNESSEE CAVALRY REGIMENT
Colonel Robert Milton Russell
Brigadier General Tyree Harris Bell’s Brigade
Forrest’s Cavalry
This flag had three battle markers on it. They were the battles of Paducah, Okolona,
and Fort Pillow. The flag measured 33 inches square. It is not known if this flag was used long after the Battle of Fort Pillow, April 12 1864. The 20th Tennessee Cavalry participated in several key battles after that date including Brice’s Crossroads (June 1864). So, it is likely that this flag was not used after May 1864. The flag was of the Hardee style and decorated with a red T for Tennessee.
