George Carthal Watson was born 13 February 1919 in Gibson County, TN. He was the
son of George Washington Watson and Annie Wren.

Chief Warrant Officer, U. S. Navy. November 11, 2002. Served 30 years in the U.
S. Navy Medical Service Corps. After Pearl Harbor he served with the First
Marine Division on Guadalcanal and during other Pacific Island campaigns. After
the war be served in both Japan and China. During the Korean War CWO Watson
served aboard the USS Ashtabula (AO 51) of the coast of Korea in support of Navy
Carrier Battle Groups. Later duties included Naval Air Stations Guam and
Pensacola, FL. After retirement from the Navy he served for 24 years in the
Tennessee State Hospital and Nursing Home Certificate Division. Survived by:
daughter, Nancy Gastrell; son, Jerry Watson; granddaughters, Samantha and
Natalie Watson; grandson, Andrew Gastrell; brother, Lyndell Watson; friend, Mary
Isbell. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Hermitage Funeral
Home. Rev. Jim Moran officiating. Interment Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Friends
will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 6 - 8 at
HERMITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 535 Shute Lane, Hermitage, TN
