Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Mattie T. Jones, age 81, wife of J. W.
Jones, who died at the home of her son, E. Frank Jones on West main Street Friday
of last week, were conducted from the residence last Saturday morning at 10
o'clock by the Reverend Jefferson Sherman, pastor of the Methodist Church with
Flowers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Cedar Heights
Cemetery.

The deceased, who was born in Gibson Co., Tenn., married John W. Jones in Dec.
1873 and the aged couple would have celebrated their 61st anniversary in December
of this year. Nine children, all of whom lived to womanhood or manhood, were born
to this union. Her grandsons and sons were the pall bearers. They are A. Frank
Jones of Memphis, Carthel Jones of Marianna, R. E. Hudson, Jr., of Forrest City,
John Surginer of Wynne, Ruben Felton of Felton, Harry Gravenmeir of Augusta,
grandsons; Frank, William and Cecil Jones, sons.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by three sons, Frank and Cecil Jones
of Marianna, and William Jones of Little Rock; three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie West
of Marianna, Mrs. R. E. Hudson of Forrest City and Mrs. P. E. Neely of Carlisle.
Twelve grandchildren and two sisters also survive her. The sisters are Mrs. J. I.
McIlwain of Dyer, Tenn. and Mrs. T. H. Fitzgerald of Humboldt, Tenn.

Mrs. Jones was rather retiring in nature. Much of her time was spent in the home
looking after home interests and home cares. She was a home builder. She was
devoted to the loved ones of the home and they to her. But her friends outside the
home were dear to her and she to them. To know her was to love her.
