of Franchion Hunt Dooley

Services for Mrs. Franchion Hunt Dooley , 97, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton with burial to follow in Eldad Cemetery.
Mrs. Dooley was the oldest of eight children born to Betty Sue Coleman and Walter Everett Hunt, Sr. Mrs. Dooley grew up in the Fruitland community and attended Fruitland school through the tenth grade. To finish high school she would ride on local passenger train to Jackson called "The Dinky" and return in the afternoon on "The Dinky". In Jackson, she attended Union University and completed the twelfth grade. She then attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College at Murfreesboro for two years.
Mrs. Dooley began a career in teaching, with her first school being Harper's Chapel, where she taught for two years. Her next school was Lonoke east of Rutherford. Her next school was Walnut Grove west of Trenton. She then taught several years at Dyer Elementary School. Her last teaching assignment was at Fruitland school where she was Principle.
After completing a long teaching career, she married Garland Dooley, who was Postmaster of Fruitland. She served as assistant Postmistress. After her husband retired, she was appointed Postmistress by Congressman Jere Cooper and worked until retirement.
Mrs. Dooley was a member of Eastern Star in Humboldt. She was very active in Fruitland Baptist Church, where she worked with the youth group called Sunbeams.
Mrs. Dooley worked writing Fruitland news for the Dyer Reporter, Trenton Gazette and Courier Chronicle.
She is survived by one brother, Judge Walter Hunt, Jr. of Trenton and one sister Mary Hunt of Jackson. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Carol Butler of Fulton, KY and a step-son, Jimmy Dooley of Memphis.
