Wiliford Abbott, Killed as Negro Autoist Hits Wagon.
TRENTON, Tenn., April 17. - Williford Abbott, 55, well known Gibson County farmer, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman George, from injuries received when his wagon was struck by an automobile driven by negroes. He was taken to the George home after the accident.
Mr. Abbott was accompanied by John Owen and Manley McConnell, who were both injured in the collision. Mr. Owen is seriously hurt.
The negroes drove their car into the rear of the wagon while trying to pass it on the highway. They are in jail charged with driving while intoxicated.
Mr. Abbott is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Sam Anthony of Trenton. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Spear of the First Methodist Church.
