State of Tennessee have this day bargained & do hereby transfer &
convey unto John Butler of the County of Gibson & State aforesaid a tract of land in the County of Gibson & State of Tennessee in consideration of three hundred Dollars in hand paid lying in Civil District No. 17 on the waters of the South fork of Obion River ---
Beginning at the north west corner of my original tract & rising(?) South with the west line of said original tract 113 2/10 poles to John Carols 30 acre tract. Thence East with said Carols north boundary 145 poles to Carols N E corner, thence north 112 2/10 poles to the north boundary line of the original Survey thence west with said line 145 poles to the beginning containing one hundred & two acres more or less to have & to hold the Same to his heirs & assigns forever -- And I the said John D. Love covenants & bind myself my heirs executors ____ to warrant & forever defend the title of the above described land & promise to the said John Butler his heirs & assigns, against the lawful claim of all persons whatsoever.
