King to Luther P. King Deed Registered July 17th 1885 Know all men by these presents that we H. A. King and wife Susan King for and in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars in Cash the receipt of which is hereby "acknowledge" have this day bargained and sold and hereby sell transfer and Convey to Luther P. King thirty five acres of land. And for the further consideration that the said Luther P. King agrees obligates and binds himself to remain with, board, "cloth" and otherwise to provide for and take care of the said H. A. King and Susan King, during the remainder of their lives. We hereby sell and Convey to the Said Luther P. King thirty five acres of land making in all Seventy acres and including the entire one half interest of the One hundred and forty acres tract of land of which we are now seized and possessed as tenants in Common with One M. H. Goodloe each owning and entitled to one half interest. As deed to the first thirty five acres above mentioned was made to the said Luther P. King about Jan 20th 1883 and recorded in the Registers office of Gibson County, Tenn. in Book 15 Page 94 Said tract of land is situated lying and being in the 7th Civil District of Gibson County, Tennessee and bounded and described as follows. To wit: On the North by the lands of S. B. Williamson, Mrs. W. C. Hunt and Sam Harper, On the South by the lands of T. Gleeson, and the East by the lands of Mrs. Florence Barksdale and T. Gleeson and on the West by the lands of C. C. Bell, Wm. Holder, Calvin Barrett and Tobe Raines containing by estimation One hundred and forty acres. To have and to hold to the said Luther P. King his heirs and assigns forever. We hereby Covenant with the said Luther P. King that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said land and have a good right to Convey the same and that the same is unencumbered. We further bind ourselves our heirs and legal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to the said Luther P. King against all parties whatever. In the event that said Luther P. King Should fail to carry out and in every way Comply with the Contract entered into for the thirty five acres last above mentioned then this instrument is to be void and of no "affect" to that part of said land. King the bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged that he executed the attached instrument for the purposes therein expressed. And Mrs. Susan A. King wife of the said H. A. King, having personally appeared before me privately and apart from her husband the said Susan A. King acknowledged the execution of the said instrument to have been done by her fairly, voluntarily and understandingly without Compulsion or Constraint from her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed.
