The last Will and Testament of B. T. WITT Deceased Probated December Term /88 Recorded December 4th 1888 WILL L. WILKERSON I, B. T. WITT being of sound mind do make and publish this as my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills writings of all ever character by me at any time made 1st I desire that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executors 2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife ELVIRA ISABELLE WITT - all of my real estate consisting of my home and farm in the 7th Civil District of Dyer County Tenn. containing (94 1/2) ninety four and one half acres, be the same more or less - for and during her natural life 3rd I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife ELVIRA ISABELLE WITT - all of my personal property - consisting of household and kitchen furniture horses, cows, hogs sheep &c during her natural life and for her sole use and benefit. 4th I give and bequeath at the death of my beloved wife ELVIRA ISABELLE WITT - To my five youngest children viz - MARTHA EMALINE WITT, MARY ISABELLE WITT, LILLIE MAUD WITT, ALBERT SIDNEY WITT and ROBERT ALGIE WITT, The use and benefit of the farm and personal property that may be on hand at the death of my wife during their single or unmarried life - share and share alike I mean by this that the above five mentioned children remain single or unmarried share and share alike in the rents and profits of said farm above and before mentioned 5th I give and bequeath at the death of my beloved wife ELVIRA ISABELLE to my two sons CARTER HARRISON WITT and WILLIAM BUTLER WITT one horse each to be selected by my Executor from any stock on the farm. At the death of my wife ELVIRA ISABELLE WITT. 6th I give and bequeath to my sons THOMAS JOSEPHUS WITT CLAYTON HAMILTON WITT, CARTER HARRISON WITT and WILLIAM BUTLER WITT the sum of (10) Ten Dollars each to be payed by my Executors out of my money that may come into their hands from my estate. 7th I hereby direct and request that my two sons WILLIAM BUTLER WIT and CLAYTON HAMILTON WITT have full controll and management of the farm for their Mother during her life and at her death to continue the management and controll of the farm for the use and benefit of the five youngest children viz MARTHA EMALINE - MARY ISABELLE, LILLIE MAUD - ALBERT SIDNEY and ROBERT ALIGE - till each and every one of the above mentioned children are married - as before selected. 8th The property going to my daughters from my estate - or inherited by them from me - I direct that the same go to them free from the debts contracts or controll of their husbands and as a separate estate for their owne use and benefit 9th I direct and request that my Executors after the death of my wife to repair and fix up our graves - and erect tombstones over the same and to pay for the same out of the first money that may come into their hands from my estate. 10th I direct that my Executors after the death of my wife - and the marriage of the five youngest children before mentioned, that they sell the real estate before mentioned, and all the personal property and divide the proceeds of the same equally between all my children share and share alike 11th Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons WILLIAM BUTLER WITT and CLAYTON HAMILTON WITT my Executors - and waive the necesity of their giving bond as required by law.
