Know all men by these presents that I, GEORGE E. SPENCE of district no. 10 in the County of Dyer and state of Tennessee, farmer being in ill health and of sound and disposing mind and memory do make & publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills, by me at any time heretofore made - and as to worldly estate and all the property real personal or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my death - I devise bequeath, and dispose in the manner following to wit: First: My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall be found convenient.

(Item) I, give, devise, and bequeath to my beloved wife LUCINDA SPENCE all my household furniture, my horses, mules, cattle, poltry, hogs, waggon and farming tools - also all moneys, notes, Book and acts. To be given by my administrator (or executor) to have & to hold the same to her & her and heir by me- I also give her the use, improvements and income of my dwelling house and fifty acres of land and its appurtenances, that I now live on, and one half of the tract of land known as the HORTON tract in the bottom for which I have paid for and hold a deed, in the Dist. County and state aforesaid. To have and to hold the same to her for and during the term of her natural life - I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter REBECCA SMITH the Book account that I have kept against her, for land horses, crop, hoggs, moneys, good, provision &c amounting to some Two Thousand, five hundred and fifty two dollars to have and to hold the same to her the said REBECCA SMITH, her heirs and assigns to her & their use and benefit forever -

I give and bequeath to my second daughter, ALLIE TANSIL, the Book Account that I have kept against her for land, a mule, cow & calf, Bed, chairs, table ware, money paid out to FINLY, SIMPSON and JACKSON, amounting to some one thousand nine hundred and Eighty one 33 1/3/100 dollars - To have and to hold the same to her the said ALLIS (as written) TANSIL heir and assigns forever.

I give devise and bequeath to my youngest daughter ADAR SPENCE all of my home tract of land lying north of the road leading to Dyersburg & known as the north half of the tract of one hundred acres that I now live on containing fifty acres (minus a few small town lots that I have heretofore executed a deed to various parties for) and one half of the tract of land, known as the HORTON tract in the bottom, adjoining B. F. PRICHARD home tract, containing one hundred acres - and I furthermore give, devise, and bequeath to my youngest daughter ADAR SPENCE, after the decease of my beloved wife LUCINDA SPENCE all the remainder of my lands known as the homestead tract of fifty acres, that I now live on and the other half or fifty acres known as the HORTON tract - and all their appurtenances and all the profits income and advantages that may result there from, after the decease of my beloved wife LUCINDA SPENCE - and all the personal property to have and to hold the same to the said ADAR SPENCE for her heirs and assigns forever and after the decease of my said wife to her and their use and behoof forever.

In testimony whereof the said GEO. W. SPENCE have to this my last will and testament contained one one sheet of paper and to this sheet I have subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 14 day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seventy nine.
