In the Matter of
Holographic will of
F. G. SAMPSON dec'd

In County Court Nov. Term 1884

On this the 3rd day of Nov. 1884 came here into open court S. R. LATTA Atty. for MRS. R. W. SAMPSON widow of F. G. SAMPSON dec'd and presents to the court a paper writing - purporting to be the Holographic last will and Testament of said F. G. SAMPSON dec'd and the said S. R. LATTA being duly sworn testifies and says, that for over thirty three years he was intimately acquainted with said F. G. SAMPSON and with his handwriting, That in the year 1868 - as witness recollects - the said F. G. SAMPSON deposited in deponents safe the accompanying official sized envelope - sealed and on the sealed side written all in the handriting of said F. G. SAMPSON, the following words "The last Will and Testament of F. G. SAMPSON deposited for safe keeping in the safe of S. R. LATTA" and on the reverse side of said Envelope his name "F. G. SAMPSON" also in the proper handwriting of said "F. G. SAMPSON", deponent further testifies that said envelope from the time of its said deposite has remained in deponents safe - in an inner drawer unopened and unbroken until about a month ago. When affiant found the same, and cut open at the end said envelope and found therein the paper writing now offered to the court for probate as the last will and testament of said F. G. SAMPSON, affiant states as a reason why the same has not been produced and before now offered for probate - the fact that the deposit thereof had been forgotten by affiant and the circumstances were recalled to his memory by the finding of the same in his safe as above stated about a month ago. Affiant swears to his intimacy with the handwriting of said F. G. SAMPSON from having seen him write and seen his writing for many years and that he verily believes and has no doubt at all - but that every word of the paper writing here offered as aforesaid including the signature of said SAMPSON, and every word written on said envelope is in the proper handwriting of said F. G. SAMPSON.
