J. A. LIGHT'S Last will and Testament Probated Sept. Term /80 Recorded Nov. 12th /80 Z. WATKINS In the Name of God Amen; I, J. A. LIGHT of the county of Dyer and State of Tennessee being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail transitory life do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament - That is to say, first, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my Estate real and personal I give bequeath and dispose of as follows; to wit; To my daughter MARY, wife of PRESTON TIPTON, my tract of land in Gibson county, on the road between Trenton and Mackley-moresville known as the TOM YANCY farm; I have deeded to my daughter SARAH A. Wife of P. L. TIPTON a tract of land situated an the South Side and adjoining the Mitchell Point road about three miles west of Dyersburg which I intend for her division of my real Estate. To my Son CHARLIE One hundred and twenty five acres of my home farm, situated on the west side of my land and north of the Mitchell Point road fronting Dr. T. J. WALKER. To my daughter SUSAN ADIE the tract of land that I bought of DAVID McLANAHAN lying if front of my residence and being a part of my home farm consisting of about 118 acres of land. To my daughter MARTHA W. the tract of land lying between the DAVID McLANAHAN tract and the tract of land deeded by me to SARAH A. wife of P. L. TIPTON containing about 116 acres of land. To my beloved wife the residue of my home farm embracing the residence together with the appurtenances situated thereon, also the personal property that I may leave. My tract of 141 acres of land situated on Lewis Creek west of Willis Davis, I wish to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between my heirs MARY, CHARLIE, SUSAN ADIE, & MARTHA and my wife SUSAN. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal on this the 22nd day of December in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy nine. JOEL A. Witnesses: Whereas I JOEL A. LIGHT of the County of Dyer and State of Tennessee have made my last will and Testament in writing bearing date of 22 day of December 1879 in and by which I have given to my daughter MARY P. wife of P. M. TIPTON a tract of land in Gibson County Tenn. On the road between McLemoresville and Trenton also an equal division of the proceeds of the sale of my tract of land on Lewis Creek with CHARLIE, ADIE, MARTHA and my wife I also gave in my said will and testament to my daughter MATTIE a tract of land lying between the DAVID McLANAHAN and the tract of land that I gave by deed to my daughter SARAH also an equal division of the proceeds of the sale of my tract of land on Lewis Creek with CHARLIE ADDIE MARY and my wife. Now therefore I do by this writing which I hereby declare to be a codicil t my last will and testament and to be taken as a part thereof order and declare that my will is, that I give to MARY P. the tract of land lying between the tract of land I purchased of DAVID McLANAHAN and the tract that I deeded to my daughter SARAH which contains about 116 acres. And to my daughter MATTIE I give the tract of land in Gibson County known as the THOS. YANCY land. I further direct my executor to sell my land on Lewis creek and give half the proceeds to my daughter MATTIE and the remainder divided equally between my wife SUSAN my son CHARLIE and my daughter ADDIE, And lastly it is my desire that this Codicil be made a part of my last will and Testament as aforesaid t all intents and purposes.
