Last Will & Testament
Proven and set up at
July Term 1857

Grove Mount Dyer County
March 24th 1857

I RICHARD HENDERSON do make and ordain this my last will and testament and first I bequeath my soul to God and my body to the grave. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife JAIN HENDERSON during her natural life my plantation where on I now reside all the house hold and Kithin furniture, my plantation tools including, Thrasher, wagon and two yoke of oxen four cows and caves four mules or mares, the one half of my stock of hogs and one half of sheep all the poultry and Bee stands my libery of books, her saddle and bridle and one years provition GEORGE ROBERT MAILLY JANE and CAROLINE and two hundred dollars in money.

I will and bequeath to my son RUFUS G. HENDERSON my negro boy ROBERT at my wifes death and three hundred dollars out of the sales of my lands.

I will and bequeath to my son JOHN O. HENDERSON Fifty acres of land the place where on he now lives and my negro man GEORGE at my wifes death.

I will and bequeath to my son EZEKIEL A. HENDERSON my negro boy JERRY and my negro girl CAROLINE at my wifes death.

I will and bequeath to my son SAMUEL C. HENDERSON my negroes old JERRY and MARY and YANCEY.

I will and bequeath to SAMUEL C. HENDERSON my negro girl MILLY at my wifes death as Trustee for my daughter GIRZAH E. GILLESPIE and his children also Trustee for the money she will be entitled to out of the sales of my property.

I will and bequeath to RUFUS G. HENDERSON my negro girl JANE at my wifes death as Trustee for my daughter MARY J. JAMES and his children.

I will and bequeath to my deceased Daughter ISABELA C. FITES four children one hundred dollars each to be paid out of the sails of my land.

I will and bequeath to my two Grand children JAMES F. HENDERSON children to RICHARD BURGES - HENDERSON my negro boy ELBERT and MATILDA ISABELA HENDERSON my negro Girl MARY ANN.

Is it my will that the lands I own in the tenth district be sold when my Executors thinks best. What money is left from Paying debts and expenses, and not willd; and the proceeds of other property be equeally divided amongst my living children: -- after my wifes death the plantation where I now reside be sold with any other property that remains and not willed, -- the proceeds to be equeally divided amongst my then living children.

I nominate and apoint my two sons RUFUS G. HENDERSON and SAMUEL C. HENDERSON my Executors signed and sealed.
