STATE OF TENNESSEE, Dyer County Court. March Term 1835

THIS DAY, before the worshipful John Rutherford, Benjamin Porter, James Miller, David Bowen, Joseph Wright, Thomas Nash, Ed. A. McCorkle, Alexander McCulloch, Ed. H. Birchett, G. W. Tinkle and Sparrell Hale, Esquires, Justices of said county, sitting and holding a county court for said county of Dyer, at the court-house in the town of Dyersburg, came into court, Henderson Clark, sheriff and collector of the public taxes for the county of Dyer, and makes and presents here into court, a report in due form of law, of sundry tracts and parts of tracts of land and town lots, lying and being in said county of Dyer which have been omitted to be given in for the taxes in said county for the year 1834, and which are liable to double taxes for said year, and double taxes upon which for said year remain due and unpaid, and wherefor the respective owners or claimants thereof, have no goods or chattels with said county, on which said sheriff can distrain for said taxes, which report Is here received by the court, and it is ordered that the clerk record said report, which is done accordingly, and is in the words and figures as follows:

STATE OF TENNESSEE, Dyer county, March Term 1835
I, Henderson Clark, sheriff and collector of the public taxes for Dyer county, do hereby report to court the following tracts and parts of tracts of land and town lots, as having been omitted to be given in for the taxes of the year 1834, that the same is liable to double tax, and that the double tax thereon, remains due and unpaid, and that the same lies within the bounds of Dyer county, 13th surveyor's district, and that the respective owners or claimants thereof have no goods or chattels within my county, on which I can distrain for said double taxes, to wit:--

One tract of land of 3360 acres, granted by the State of North Carolina to Benjamin Smith, by grant No. 122, dated 10th July 1788, lying in the 8th range, 3d sec. reported for double taxes of the year 1834. Tax 31 41 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

One tract of land of 4000 acres, granted by the State of North Carolina to Benjamin Smith, by grant No. 84, dated 10th July 1788, lying in the 9th and 10th ranges, 1st and 2d secs. reported for the double taxes for the year 1834. Taxes 37 40 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

One tract of land of 5000 acres, granted by the State of North Carolina to Benjamin Smith, by grant No. 165, dated 10th July 1788, lying in the 9th and 10th ranges, 1st and 2d secs. reported for the double taxes for the year 1834. Taxes 46 75 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

William P. Anderson's heirs 1000 acres, entered in the name of William P. Anderson by entry No. 559, lying in the 11th range and 3d sec. reported for the double taxes for the year 1834. Taxes 9 35 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

Cullen Andrews, 480 acres of land, entry No. 743, lying in the 7th range and 5th sec. an undivided part of 640 acres, reported for double taxes of the year 1834. Taxes 4 32 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

John Rhea 160 acres of land, entry No. 169 , lying in the 9th range and 3d sec. being an undivided part of 640 acres entered in the name of Wm. A. Tharp, reported for double taxes of the year 1834. Taxes 1 49 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

John Rhea 160 acres of land, entry No 638 in the name of Calvin Jones for 2560 acres, lying in the 11th range and 1st sec. reported for the double tax of the year 1834. Tax 1 69 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

William P. Laurence 200 acres, a divided part of 3800 entered in the name of William McIlhatten, entry No. 46, range 7, sec. 4, reported for the double tax of the year 1834. Tax 1 86 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

Thomas McCorry 299 acres of land part of 521 ½ acres, entry No. 256, lying in the 7th range, 4th and 5th sec. reported for the double taxes of the year 1834. Tax 2 79 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

John M'Iver's heirs 5892 acres of land, grant No. 162, lying in the 7th range and 2d sec. granted by the State of North Carolina to M. Armstrong for 5000, reported for the double taxes for the year 1834. Taxes 55 50 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

John McIver's heirs 1044 acres of land, a part of Campbell and McIver's 2267 acres, entry No. 24, lying in the 8th range and 4th sec. reported for the double taxes for the year 1834. Taxes 9 76 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

Frederick W. Huling 320 acres of land, one half of Huling and Hightower's 640 acres, entry No. 309, lying in the 6th range and 1st sec. reported for the double taxes of the year 1834. Taxes 3, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

John McIver's heirs, 640 acres of land, entered in the name of Peter R. Beverly by entry No. 175, lying in the 7th range and 4th sec. reported for the double taxes of the year 1834. Taxes 5 98 cents, sheriff's, clerk's, printer's fees 3 90.

Hardy Murfree's heirs, 1428½ acres of land, part of two tracts of land granted by the State of North Carolina to Hardy Murfree by grants Nos. 427 and 426, lying in the 9th and 10th ranges, 3d and 4th secs. reported for the double taxes of the year 1834. Whereupon, it is considered by the court, that judgment be, and it is hereby entered against the aforesaid tracts and parts of tracts of land and town lots in the name of the State, for the sums annexed and charges due severally thereon, for the year 1834; and it is ordered by the Court that said several tracts and parts of tracts of land and town lots, or so much thereof, as shall be sufficient of each of them, to satisfy the double taxes, costs and charges annexed to them severally, be sold as the law directs, & c.

In pursuance of the above order of sale, I Henderson Clark, sheriff and collector of the public taxes for the county of Dyer, will sell according to law, on the 1st Monday in November next, and succeeding day, the above tracts and parts of tracts of land and town lots, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient of each, to satisfy the taxes, costs, and charges annexed, unless previously redeemed.
