of DYERSBURG - 86yrs, mechanical engineer for Heckethorn Manufacturing and teacher, died Tuesday, Dec 16 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at J. W. Curry and Son Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. He was a Boy Scout master, Cub Scout master, Explorer master, merit badge counselor, an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a Red Cross volunteer for 35 years, and a Red Cross first aid and CPR instructor, former chairman of the Randolph County (Ill.) Red Cross Chapter, former chairman of the Red Cross Dyer County Chapter and squad chief of the Red Cross Squad in Memphis. He was a member of the Outpost Sunday School Class at Dyersburg First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce and Dyersburg Kiwanis Club. Mr. Zimmermann, the husband of Jan Zimmermann, also leaves two daughters, Ronnie Jayne Alewel and husband, Roger of Sedalia, Mo., and Lynn Lenore Fritchey and husband, Bob of Dyersburg; a son, Kent Queensen Kreh and wife Dottie of Glen Cove, N.Y.; two sisters, Louise Bengard of Washington, Mo., and Vera Sowman of Osage Beach, Mo., four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded by two sisters; Thekla Young and Helen Kemper; a brother, Max Zimmermann; a grandchild, Robbie Mann.
