Dyersburg State Gazette December 30, 1943 MRS. WILLIAMSON DIES HERE TODAY Rites Tomorrow for Mother of Former Sheriff of Dyer County Mrs. Sallie B. Williamson, 82, lifelong resident and mother of Clarence Williamson, former sheriff of Dyer County, died at 6:45 o'clock this morning in the Baird- Brewer General Hospital here. Mrs. Williamson had been under treatment in the hospital for about four days. She had been ill only a short while longer. Born and reared in this county, Mrs. Williamson was a Miss Wheeler before her marriage and was a member of a prominent pioneer Dyer County family. She made her home just west of Dyersburg on the Finley highway for the last several years of her life. She was well known and highly esteemed. Besides her son, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joe Mays of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her husband has been dead for a number of years. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock tomorrow. Friday morning in the parlors of the Curry Funeral home, with the Rev. S. T. Parham, Finley Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers, Lee Taylor, Irb Taylor, Chester Finley, William C. Wheeler and Elbert Finley all of Finley. J. W. Curry and Sn of Dyersburg are in charge of the funeral arrangements. |
