State Gazette July 29, 1921. John A. Williamson Dies Suddenly John A. Williamson died at 10 O'clock Tuesday at his home west of town. Mr. williamson was taken home from the Baird-Dulaney hospital over a week ago and was thought to be doing nicely. In fact he sat up until 9 o'clock Tuesday night and said that he was feeling much better. At 10 O'clock he called his wife and complained of a pain in his head. He was dead in ten minutes. Mr. Williamson was born in the county near Dyersburg 60 years ago and was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Williamson. His father was a prominent physician. Mr. Williamson was in business in Lenox. He was of a quite unassuming disposition, but had many friends all over the country. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellow Order. He is survived by his wife, one son, Clarence of Dyersburg, one daughter, Mrs. Joe May of Missouri and a brother, Dr. Ed Williamson of Finley. Funeral Services were held at the late residence Wednesday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. Thurmond, and interment was at Fairview cemetery. The active pall bearers were: C. C. Dawson, J. C. Doyle, S. G. Latta, Dan Cotton, H. R. Meriwether, W. R. Riggs, M. E. Magee and W. H. Fowler. |
