STATE GAZETTE DYERSBURG, TENNESSEE FORTY-SECOND YEAR NO. 5 JANUARY 31, 1907 MRS. ELIZABETH WHITSON -- On Saturday, January 26, the soul of Mrs. Elizabeth WHITSON passed to its rest from the home of her grand daughter, Mrs. Mat HOLLOMAN at Kenton, Tenn., and was buried on the following day at that place. Mrs. WHITSON was 92 years old, having been born in N. C. and moved to West Tennessee when quite young and located at Eaton, Gibson County, but later moved to Dyersburg and was a resident of this county for more than 50 years. She was a charter member of McCullough's Chapel. She was probably the oldest living mother of a Confederate soldier in Dyer County. She was the oldest of a large family and the last to die. She leaves a grandson, Mitt WHITSON of Finley, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mag FIELDS, of this county.
