Wagster Services To Be On Friday In Dyer County Mrs. Lizzie L. WAGSTER, 93, mother of Mrs. Roy HALL, died today at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's hospital, Humboldt, after an extended illiness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the chapel of Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg, with Rev.William BATES, associated pastor of the First Baptist Church here, and Eugene SUTHERLAND officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery at Unionville in Dyer County. Nephews and step-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. WAGSTER was born in Bowling Green, Va., moving when five months old to West Tennessee with her parents. She had lived in this section since that time. She was married first to John Edward SLAUGHTER, who proceeded her in death many years ago. Later she was married to Robert Wesley WAGSTER of Unionville. He died April 22, 1929. Since then she has spent much of her time with Mrs. HALL's family in Jackson. She was a devoted member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, taking part in its activities and those of the community as long as she was able. She later attended the First Baptist Church here and belonging to Mrs. HUNDLEY's Sunday School calss, originally known as the Fannie SAVAGE Class. Survivors, other than her daughter, are two grandchildren, Mrs. Robert TILLER and Tommy HALL; a great grand-daughter, Cornelia SLAUGHTER TILLER; a sister Mrs. Henderson M. BAKER of Dyersburg; and a step-son, H.W. WAGSTER of Clarksville. Note* Lizzie was the daughter of Cornelius P. GILMAN and Sophia L. HOUSTON GILMAN. She was born Sept.24,1871-died Dec.25,1965. |
