"Rites Here for Veteran of War

--- Funeral Rites Will Be Here Friday in Dyersburg For Lonnie B. Tubbs

--- Funeral rites for Lonnie B. Tubbs, veteran of World War I and Boothspoint farmer who died at the Veteran Hospital in Memphis, will be held here Friday morning.

The rites will be at the Curran Funeral Home at eleven o'clock with Rev. G. B. Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery here.

Mr. Tubbs was a native of Dyer county. After serving in the previous World War he returned here to follow the vocation of a farmer. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Tubbs had been in bad (? word not shown, so I'm guessing) health for the last few years and entered the Veteran's hospital about three months ago.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bonnie Tubbs; two daughters, Martha and Frances Tubbs; three sons, Charles (sic), Paul and Larry Tubbs; his mother, Mrs. G. A. (sic) Tubbs; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Burse; three brothers, Rex of Boothspoint, Earl of Dyersburg and Elmo of Boothspoint.

In the United States Army, Elmo, who is stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia, is en route home for the funeral rites of his brother. Induction of Earl, who was to have left here this morning with the Dyer county quota in the January call, was postponed by the local board."

Notes: Hugh Mitchell "Charlie" Tubbs was referred to as "Charles". George's middle initial was "W;" but he may have had a second middle name with the beginning letter "A".
