Mrs. J.T. Smith Dies Here Monday Morning

Mrs. Martha Matilda Smith, 77, died at 9:12 Monday morning at her home here on Ewell avenue following an illness of several days.

Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Dyer county most of her life and was highly esteemed. She lived for a number of years in Finley where she was active in community and church affairs. She was a loyal member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband, J. T. Smith; five daughters, Mrs. Luma Pressley of Glendale, Mrs. Etta Barnes of Steele, Mo., Mrs. Minnie Colsen of Mobley, Ind., Mrs. Fleta Peckenpaugh of Finley and Mrs. Della Oakley of Dyersburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with her pastor, Rev. H. A. Goforth of Finley, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery here.
