FRIDAY AFTERNOON MAY 12TH, 1916

THIRTY-FOOT FALL FATAL TO CITY ELECTRICIAN--BURNIE REED, city electrician, fell from a pole in front of the Cumberland Presbuterian Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and died from his injuries at Hosmer Hospital a few hours laters. In falling his head hit the plank crossing near the post. He never regained consciousness and shortly after six o'clock. Mr. REED came here from Obion nine years ago, and has been connected with the electric light plant of the city ever since. He is survived by his wife; two children, WILSON and LOUISE REED; father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. JIM REED, of Obion; three brothers, COLLIE REED, of Obion, F. A. REED, of this city, and SPIRAL REED, of Newbern; two sisters, Effie REED, of Obion, and a married sister at Dequeen, Ark. Mr. REED was 40 years of age and was raised at Kenton, Tenn. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
