State Gazette 1961 Allen Lafe Long, retired farmer and longtome resident of the Miston community died at his home at Miston at 9:30 o'clock Saturday night. He was 85. A native of Kentucky, Mr Long had lived in Miston area for 40 years. He was married to Mary Long, who survives him. He was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends. Funeral services for Mr Long were held at one o'clock today at the Miston Baptist Church. The Rev Ned Davis officiated and burial was in Neeley's Chapel Cemetery, Pallbearers were Raymond Nale, Leslie Nale, Wesley Nale, Walter Nale, Easton Orr and Earl Smith. J W Curry and Sons had cahrge of arrangements. Besides his wife, Mr Long is survived by seven daughters, Mrs Jerry Hill of Paragould, AR, Mrs Gene Strickland, Mrs Curtis Northcutt, Mrs Kenneth Lewis, Mrs Velma Fisher, all of South Bend, Indiana, Mrs Clyde Harris and Mrs Ruth Goad, both of Dyersburg; Four sons, Hebert Long and Frank Long, both of South Bend, Indiana, Norborn Long, Dyersburg, and Hugh long, Miston; 27 grandchildren, en great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. |
