Dyersburg State Gazette Sept. 1968 Mrs. Lena Bell Jones, 84, of Newbern, Route 1, died at Parkview Hospital, Saturday, August 28. Mrs. Jones was the widow of Monroe Jones who preceded her in death in 1955. Funeral Services were held today at three o'clock at Johnson Chapel in Newbern with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Grandsons will serve as pallbeaers. Mrs. Jones is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Kate Inmon, Mrs. Calvin Thompson, both of Newbern; Mrs. William Gidewell, Mrs. Eathel Littlejohn of Ridgley; Mrs. Claude Roberson of Dyersburg; two sons, L. M. Jones of Newbern and Vernon Jones of Melrose, Illinois; two sisters, Florence Eaton of Dyersburg and Frances Slaughter of Union City; two brothers, Albert Thurmond and Strawnie Thurmond, both of Dyersburg; 39 grandchildren; 39 great - grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren. |
