Mrs. Nancy Faye Johnson, 83, Dies Early Last Night.

Mrs. Nancy Faye, 83, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Joe L. Scruggs, at 9:30 o’clock last night following an illness of three weeks. In that period she had two strokes of paralysis, the second occurring Sunday and from which she never regained consciousness.

A native of Dyersburg, Tenn., she spent most of her time visiting relatives and had been with Mrs. Scruggs for about two months. Other relatives who survive her are one son, J. E. Johnson of near this city, one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Moore, of Dyersburg, and one brother, Joe E. White, also of Dyersburg.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 o’clock today by the Rev. Jefferson Sherman and the remains, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Scruggs, Mr. Johnson, and Mrs. Moore who was with her mother in her last illness, were taken to Dyersburg this afternoon. Burial will be made there tomorrow.


Nancy Faye White Johnson was my great grandmother. She was born 6 Jun 1846 and died 19 Sep 1929. Her husband Hugh Neely Johnson died young in 1877.
