Jesse C. Hopper Obituary (1952)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Tyler Baptist Church, Tyler, Mo. for Jesse Coleman Hopper of Donna, Texas, with the Rev. W. E. Hall officiating. Mr. Hopper died Dec. 25 in the Valley Hospital at Harlingen, Tx. He was 70.

Mr. Hopper was born Sept. 26, 1882, at Stokes, Tn., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hopper. He attended schools at Stokes.

He was united in marriage to Miss Media Brock at Tigrett, Tn., on Sept. 22, 1907. She preceded him in death on February 21, 1921.

Mr. Hopper moved to Pemiscot County, Mo. from Stokes, Tenn, in 1913 and had made his home in the Tyler community, where he engaged in farming, until about four months ago when he moved to Donna, Tx. for his health.

On December 14, 1932, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Nelle Pullen at Blytheville, Ark.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Nelle Hopper of Donna, Tx.; four sons, Jewell Hopper of Tyler, Mo., Raymond Hopper of Los Angeles, Ca., Gray Hopper of Tyler, Mo., and Herman Hopper of Detroit, Mich; one step-son, Gerald Pullen of Marine City, Mich; one step-daughter, Mrs Dimple Dunkin of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Tennie Pulley of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren.

Interment was in Bowens Chapel Cemetery, near Friendship, Tenn., with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
