The Crockett Times Alamo, (Crockett Co.) Tenn. Thursday, May 22, 1947 F. K. Henderson From the Nashville Banner Funeral services for F. K. Henderson, 85, of 2020 Belmont Blve. prominent educator of many years were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, with Rev. W. Wood Duff and Dr. James E. Clarke officiating. Mr. Henderson died at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday at his home following an extended illness. Son of the late Dr. Rufus Giles and Euphemia Knox Henderson, Mr.Henderson was born near Dyersburg. He received his early education from his mother, a graduate of old Salem College in North Carolina. He also attended private schools and the Universite of Nashville, now Peabody College. In 1890, he received a degree from that institution. Mr. Henderson's teaching career was begun in a one room country school in West Tennessee. A short time later, he established the public school system of Humboldt, Tenn., and Gibson County. In 1905, Mr. Henderson came to Nashville. He served as principal of Waverly School and later joined the city school system. He held positions as principal of Clemons, Ross and Warner school. Mr. Henderson served as principal at Warner School for 25 years, establishing a record of service. He retired about 10 years ago. Mr. Henderson was reared near Friendship.
