Jan. 27, 1844 Aug. 4, 1938 Services for Mrs. Sophia Houston Gilman, one of Dyersburg's oldest residents and beloved women, who died here late Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henderson Baker, were held at the Baker residence on Connell avenue Saturday morning. She was 94. The services were conducted by Rev. Guy Turner of Halls. Burial was in City cemetery with J.W. Curry and Sons of Dyersburg in charge of funeral arrangements. Besides Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Gilman leaves two other daughters, Mrs. H.B. Rike of Dyersburg and Mrs. R.W. Wagster of Unionville, and a son , Bob Gilman of Unionville. Note* Sophia Letitia Houston Gilman was the wife of Cornelius Pleasant Gilman. |
