As published in the State Gazette Thursday, March 26, 1936 Hold Services Monday For Bogota Farmer Services for Sam Countess, 69, well known retired Dyer County farmer, who died at his residence in the Bogota community Sunday, were held at the residence at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. Hassell of Trenton officiating. Mr. Countess had been ill for several weeks. He had resided at Bogota for a number of years and was well esteemed there. Burial was in Zion cemetery, Obion county. Mr. Countess is survived by his widow, Mrs. Tennie Countess, and several sons and daughters. J.W. Curry and Son of Dyersburg had charge of arrangements. [Sam Countess is my great grandfather. Sam and Tennie's children are William (Bill), Jennie, Mary (Molly), Duke, Tennie, Jake and Margie.] |
