MRS. LYDE COTTON--passed away Sunday night at her home on Sampson Ave., after an extended illness. She was born in Rutherford County on Christmas day 74 years ago last Christmas. On March 13, 1873, she was married to TOM COTTON of Dyersburg, while she was a resident of Gibson County. She has since made her home in Dyersburg, Mr. COTTON being in business here at that time. She is survived by her daughter, Miss NELLE BELL COTTON and her stepsons, HARRY and DAN COTTON. The latter have loved and cared for her as their own mother. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by Revs. W. W. POWELL, C. H. McCORD and M. D. AUSTIN and her remains were laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
