Unionville Farmer Dies Early Today

Billy Bivens, 71-year-old farmer, died at 2:40 o'clock this morning at his home in the Unionville community after an illness of several days.

A native of Arkansas, Mr. Bivens had resided in Tennessee for a number of years and was a highly esteemed resident of the Unionville community. He was a member of the Baptist church.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Nannie Bivens; four daughters, Mrs. Rufus Pressley of Dyersburg, Mrs. Morris Garrison, Lenox, Mrs. Jewell Baker of Fowlkes and Miss Gladys Bivens of Unionville; three sons, Fletcher Bivens of Dyersburg, Hassell Bivens of Fowlkes and Pete Bivens of Unionville; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Cole of Trimble and Mrs. Henry Asbridge of Neely's Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Mount Vernon Baptist church at Unionville with the pastor, Rev. Thomas Pope, officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview cemetery at Dyersburg. The following will serve as pallbearers: Homer Watson, Lloyd Moore, Milam Watson, Raymond Hall, Elbert Montgomery and Stanley Gibson.

J. W. Curry and Son of Dyersburg are in charge of the funeral arrangements.
